So I have a pretty awesome boyfriend with a really awesome testimony.....He also writes some pretty freaking awesome spoken word pieces! Here's one I wanted to share. Hope you like it! Read it out loud to hear all the cool rhymes!

Lamentation

Lord I pray to you in Lamentation

Why is there so much hurt within the nation of my heart?

From the start you placed me to live this life of sorrow

And yet you give me strength for tomorrow

Saying “ My son, don’t lose heart. Because what I start I finish,

I’ve told you this so why try to diminish my power by sobbing?

Did I not create the dirt you stand on?

Is it not me that gives the rain permission to fall from my clouds?”

I reply “ Yes father, it is you who is in power.”

But in this same hour the enemy still prowls aiming for my sanity,

Hit!

It came in the form of pills, alcohol, a text, and a call.

Your father's in the hospital. He tried to give up.

I can feel the enemy smile and perk up.

Saying “ Where is your God now? You think I’ll let you stand proud?

Try again kid and just because I hate you, here look your grades slipped.

Remember this the next time you get back up to start again.”

It feels like you are far, so far away I can barely hear you say

“My son, don’t lose heart. Because what I start I finish,

I’ve told you this so why try to diminish my power by crying?

I know you’re working diligently and resting in me

So is it any wonder why the enemy is attacking you?

He’s scared of you, why? Because I’ve prepared you.

And you’ve taken up your armor for this fight

The shot to your heart was dulled because of your chest plate

Your shield is on your back and won’t do you any good there

Your sword for some reason is sheathed tight.

My son, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIGHT?!”

I reply “TONIGHT!”

He says “Show me”

So I’m faithfully going.

Hell fear me because I'm coming.
