Opportunity (Original Poem)

Hey y'all!

One more poem for you. More of a call to action, really. If the Church isn't helping others, serving others, speaking God into others' lives, then are we really doing what God has called His people to do? Read more if you'd like me to elaborate. Opportunity

When you’re put on a pedestal for all to see,

How do you react?

Do you stand up tall and proud

Like you have no reason to be put down?

Do you show love to others

And expect your followers to do the same?

Do you show truth in who you are?

Do you show humility?

Do you show the raw, honest version of yourself

So that no one feels alone?

There’s not a right way to do it

One could say there’s a right way for each individual

But is there really a right way at all?

For anyone?

Do you strive to be on that pedestal?

Or would you rather not have anyone look at you?

Do you stand up tall

Or do you shrink back in fear

Of possibly having an impact on someone?

We’re given these great opportunities

To show people God’s love

Simply by the position we were put in

Why do we take that for granted?

We have this ability

These possibilities of making differences in lives around us

Simply by what we were given by God

Why do we not seize them?

Seize the opportunities to do good in the world.

Help others.

We could use our position

To do the best we can for the Lord

And yet we complain about how hard it is

If something was easy,

It wouldn’t be worth doing.

They always say

“With great power comes great responsibility”

But what if we flipped that statement?

What if the responsibility

Wasn’t a negative thing?

But rather a civil duty

To do what’s right for the kingdom of God?

Have you taken your opportunity recently?

Have you used your position?

Your stance?

Your visibility?

Your availability?

Have you used the possibility

To do good work for God yet?

Or have you simply complained?

Now that I’ve reminded you,

Are you going to use that opportunity?

It’d be a waste if you didn’t.

Waste of your time

Waste of your skill sets

Waste of God’s power

Because He’s given you the ability

To do the most wonderful thing in the world

And you haven’t taken it yet

To share the love of God with someone

And to let them know how much He loves them

Simply by how you act

We claim it’s hard

It’s not that hard

It’s simple, really

You just have to care enough

About the work you do

About the God you serve

About His love for others

Nothing is hard to do if you care about it enough.

Do you care?

Are you going to take that opportunity?

Or are you just going to sit back and complain?
